Stay in an ancient geisha district that colors Kyoto`s deep history

Located at 3 minutes’ walk from Tambaguchi station and just one station away from Kyoto station,
it makes it a very convenient place to stay.
Shimabara used to be one of the was the designated courtesans’ districts during the Edo period
but later transformed into one of the famous geisha districts that existed in Kyoto around 1700s.
Currently, it is all but defunct and has become a touristic area.
5 minutes’ walk from the hotel there is the Shimabara Sumiyoshi Shrine,
where it is supposed to be custodied the guardian of Shimabara.
Even the area had a bit of a dark history,
currently it is considered a good district and local people are familiar with it.
Grand Japaning Hotel Tambaguchi East is located in front of a big apartment building and
its façade is decorated with a cream-colored checkerboard pattern, giving it a luxury style.
The room, besides having a fancy shelf that works as a partition between the two single beds,
it is very convenient to put things and charge your phone too.
It can be very useful when you do not want to see other people`s sleeping face!
